Populist right movements reshape European political landscape

Populist right-wing movements are reshaping the political landscape across Europe, forcing traditional conservative establishments to either adopt harder-line stances or risk significant electoral losses. This shift is driven largely by economic pressures and voter frustration regarding immigration and national identity.

In the United Kingdom, Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, has established its headquarters in London’s Millbank Tower, the former site of the Conservative Party. Following the Conservatives' 2024 electoral defeat, Reform UK has capitalized on public concerns over net migration, which reached record levels during the previous government's tenure.

The trend extends across the continent: Marine Le Pen’s National Rally is gaining ground in France, and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) has achieved historic gains in Germany. Similar movements are challenging established parties in Italy, Spain, and Sweden, signaling a broad realignment toward nationalism and identity-based politics.
