Por Andalucía proposes rent caps in Andalusian Parliament

The political coalition Por Andalucía is bringing a non-legislative proposal, known as the ‘Maricarmen’ PNL, to the Andalusian Parliament. The initiative seeks to implement rent caps within the autonomous community to address the housing crisis.

Proposed measures include setting limits on evictions, restricting seasonal and room rentals, and implementing controls on tourist apartments. Additionally, the proposal calls for free legal assistance for tenants.

Ernesto Alba, deputy spokesperson for the formation, criticized regional President Juanma Moreno, accusing him of avoiding his competencies regarding housing and hiding behind central government decisions. Alba also alleged that Moreno’s personal interests as a landlord conflict with his political stance on real estate regulation.
