Porcupine Plain expands Truth and Reconciliation Day events

The Town of Porcupine Plain and the Porcupine Plain Métis Local are partnering to host an expanded series of events for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. Held at the Porcupine Plain Community Hall, the gathering aims to build upon community activities held in previous years.

The program includes a community walk for truth and reconciliation, a free community lunch, a beaded earrings workshop, and a bannock and jam workshop. Organizers have requested registration for the workshops to ensure sufficient supplies.

Tammy Willerton, president of the Porcupine Plain Métis Local, stated that the day focuses on learning from the past to build a better future through understanding, respect, and healing. The event is supported by Sask Lotteries and SaskCulture.
