Poros Primary School director warns of safety risks to students
Dimitrios Ververis, the director of Poros Primary School in Kefalonia, has issued a warning regarding the safety of students due to the hazardous condition of the schoolyard. During a recent ceremony, Ververis stated that the courtyard surface has been “extremely dangerous” for young students, noting that he has been attempting to resolve these issues since 2012.
The director called upon parents and the Parents' Association to mobilize and demand immediate repairs from the Municipality to prevent further injuries. The Mayor acknowledged the poor state of the courtyard and confirmed the risk to children.
Additionally, the school is operating as an all-day facility until 3:00 p.m., but it lacks food service capabilities, providing only a small oven for warming meals brought from home. Regarding transportation, parents must arrange travel for children from areas such as Kapandriti and Agios Nikolaos, as no regional transport services have been secured for those routes.
