Porsche 911 GT2 RS sells for $1 million at online auction
A 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS in the rare Viola Purple Metallic paint and equipped with the Weissach performance package was sold on the Bring a Trailer online auction platform for $1,000,000 (about €920,000). The car had only 593 miles (954 km) on the odometer, making it a near‑new example.
The sale marks the first public transaction of a GT2 RS reaching a seven‑figure price, signalling a shift in the high‑end collector‑car market. Previously, a 2019 GT2 RS Weissach version sold for $1,006,000 through RM Sotheby's White Collection, but this is the first time the million‑dollar threshold has been hit on a purely online auction. Typical GT2 RS sales range from $500,000 to $700,000, placing this violet example in the top 10 % of sales for the model.
The GT2 RS, powered by a 3.8‑litre twin‑turbo flat‑six delivering 700 hp and 553 lb‑ft of torque, has set benchmark lap times at the Nürburgring, further fueling collector demand.
