Porsche and Hedley Studios unveil electric 550 J
Porsche and British-based Hedley Studios have announced the Porsche 550 J, a fully electric reinterpretation of the classic 550 Spyder. Developed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport, the new model is built to approximately 80 percent of the original's scale.
The vehicle features a carbon fiber body mounted on a steel space frame, weighing roughly 330 kg. It is powered by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery system. The standard configuration provides 8 kW (11 hp) of power, reaching a top speed of 65 km/h with a range of up to 50 km. An optional RS package doubles the output to 16 kW (21 hp), increasing the top speed to 80 km/h and the range to 80 km.
Designed for two adults, the 550 J measures 2.9 meters in length and 1.2 meters in width. The interior maintains a classic aesthetic with three round instruments, though the fuel gauge has been replaced by a battery meter. Production is limited to 250 units, with prices starting at £69,500 before local taxes.
