Porsche confirms Boxster and Cayman will not return with gas engines
Porsche has clarified that its 718 models, including the Boxster and Cayman, will not return with internal combustion engines. Despite previous speculation that high-end versions might retain gas engines, the company’s 'Sportwagenschmiede ’35' strategy focuses exclusively on electric models.
Matthias Rauter, Porsche’s Head of Corporate Communications, stated that a comeback for the combustion-engine duo was never officially confirmed. The company plans for 2028 to be the first full year of production for the electric Boxster and Cayman, with official reveals expected next year.
