Porsche Cup returns to Interlagos with record participation
The Porsche Cup Brasil has returned to the Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo for the sixth stage of the season, following a series of European rounds in France and Portugal. This event marks a record for the championship, with 81 drivers participating across the Carrera Cup, Sprint Challenge, and Trophy divisions.
During the Carrera Cup qualifying sessions, heavy rain necessitated modifications to the schedule. Drivers were required to use rain tires for two fast laps to determine the starting grids for both the Saturday afternoon and Sunday races. Marçal Muller, the current championship leader, secured a double pole position with a best lap time of 1:48.828. Pipo Massa earned the pole position for the rookie category.
Technical challenges included managing temperature fluctuations and wet track conditions. The series utilizes Fremax slotted brake discs designed to expel debris and heat, maintaining performance under severe use.
