Porsche expands 911 lineup with GT3 Touring and updated Carrera models

Porsche has broadened its iconic 911 range with two notable additions. The GT3 Touring, first released in 2017, omits the large fixed rear wing of the standard GT3, opting for a retractable spoiler and a more understated exterior while retaining the high‑revving 4.0 L naturally aspirated flat‑six engine that revs to 9,000 rpm. Inspired by the limited‑run 911R, the Touring version targets drivers who prefer a manual‑like experience and a less conspicuous look, quickly becoming a popular catalogue model.

In parallel, Porsche unveiled a refreshed 911 Carrera as part of the 992.2 generation in May 2024. The model carries a 3.0 L twin‑turbo flat‑six engine delivering 394 hp and 450 Nm of torque, paired with an eight‑speed PDK gearbox. The Carrera GTS variant introduces Porsche’s first hybrid system, the T‑Hybrid, while the standard Carrera retains a conventional powertrain. Exterior updates include a cleaner front fascia and a new light bar rear design, and the interior now features fully digital instrument displays. Japanese market pricing starts at ¥18.8 million for the Carrera coupe and ¥21.4 million for the Cabriolet.
