Porsche global deliveries fall 16 percent amid weak demand in China

Porsche reported a 16 percent decline in global vehicle deliveries for the first nine months of 2026, totaling 178,532 vehicles. The downturn is primarily driven by significant sales drops in China, where deliveries fell 33 percent to 21,493 units, and North America, which saw a 13 percent decrease.

In China, the decline is attributed to a challenging market environment and a real estate crisis affecting wealthy consumers. Porsche has responded by prioritizing long-term brand value and exclusivity over short-term sales volume, avoiding aggressive discount strategies. In North America, the decline was partly influenced by the phase-out of internal combustion engine versions of the Boxster and Cayman models.

Despite the overall decline, the Porsche 911 model showed resilience, with global deliveries increasing by 12 percent to 42,217 vehicles. The Cayenne remains the company’s best-selling model, though its sales decreased by 2 percent. The broader German automotive industry is also facing significant pressure from high production costs, protectionist policies, and shifting market dynamics in China.
