Porsche Penske Motorsport Rolls Out Retro Liveries at Road America
Porsche Penske Motorsport will field its two GTP entries in special throwback liveries at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Road America. The No. 6 Porsche 963 will wear the iconic blue‑and‑yellow Sunoco scheme that decorated the 1973 Porsche 917/30 Can‑Am car, a machine that produced up to 1,200 hp and won seven consecutive races. The No. 7 963 will display the yellow livery of the 2007 Porsche RS Spyder, which captured an overall victory at Road America that year.
The liveries celebrate Porsche Motorsport’s 75th anniversary and Team Penske’s 60th year in racing. Porsche Motorsport Vice President Thomas Laudenbach noted the circuit’s “special successes” for the partnership, while Roger Penske said the designs honor “championship‑winning eras, legendary cars, and the people who helped build our success.” Current drivers Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor will run the No. 6 car, and Julien Andlauer with Felipe Nasr will pilot the No. 7 entry. Porsche remains the winningest manufacturer at Road America with 17 overall victories.
