Porsche completes sale of Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group stakes
Porsche has finalized the sale of its stakes in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group, marking a definitive exit from the joint venture and severing the final ties between Bugatti and the Volkswagen Group. The transaction, completed on September 9, 2026, was executed following regulatory approval. An international investment consortium led by U.S.-based HOF Capital, which includes BlueFive Capital as a major investor, acquired the shares.
Porsche expects to receive approximately €1 billion from the deal. The company has earmarked €250 million of these proceeds to fund its pension obligations, while the remainder will bolster its liquidity. Following the divestment, Porsche has raised its 2026 automotive net cash flow margin forecast to a range of 5.5% to 7.5%, up from a previous estimate of 3% to 5%.
The ownership change triggers a significant leadership reshuffle at Bugatti Rimac. Mate Rimac, the current CEO of Bugatti Rimac, will expand his responsibilities to also serve as President of Bugatti Automobiles. Christophe Piochon is stepping down from his roles as President of Bugatti Automobiles and Chief Operating Officer of Bugatti Rimac. Marko Brkljačić, formerly of Rimac Technology, is set to join the leadership team as the new Chief Operating Officer, while Hendrik Malinowski is expected to become Chief Commercial Officer.
