Porsche Taycan production may end by 2030 amid falling sales

Reports indicate that Porsche may discontinue production of its flagship electric vehicle, the Taycan, by 2030. According to the German publication WirtschaftsWoche, the manufacturer is considering a gradual phase-out of the model following a significant decline in sales.

Delivery numbers have seen a sharp downward trend, falling from approximately 41,000 units in 2023 to roughly 16,000 in 2025, with only about 6,000 units sold in the first half of 2026. While earlier discussions reportedly included moving production from Stuttgart to Leipzig or ending the line immediately, the current strategy appears to favor a slower wind-down.

Porsche has responded to the reports by stating that optimizing their model range involves reducing the number of variants to decrease complexity, rather than necessarily discontinuing entire lines. The company noted that there are no plans to retire the Taycan in the short term and that they continue to invest in the model while monitoring market demand.
