Porsche to bring manual transmission to 2027 911 Carrera S

Porsche is reintroducing a six-speed manual transmission to the 911 Carrera S for the 2027 model year. This MT Package is being launched exclusively for the North American market in response to high customer demand for manual gearboxes, a trend noted by the high attachment rates of manual transmissions in the 911 GT3 touring models.

The 2027 Carrera S will feature a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 353kW (approximately 473 horsepower), with power sent exclusively to the rear wheels. To offset the weight of the manual equipment, the package includes center-lock wheels for the first time on a Carrera S, saving over 7.7kg.

Performance upgrades include standard rear-axle steering, a PASM Sport suspension that lowers the ride height by 10mm, and model-specific exhaust tuning. The interior will feature a walnut gearknob and options for various sport seats, including carbon-fibre lightweight bucket seats. Deliveries in the United States are expected to begin before the end of 2026.
