Porsche to reduce vehicle weight using gallium nitride speaker technology

Porsche has announced a technological collaboration with Burmester and the University of Stuttgart to develop a new generation of lightweight, high-performance speakers. The innovation utilizes gallium nitride (GaN), a semiconductor material, to create audio systems that are more compact and powerful while reducing overall vehicle weight.

By using GaN, the systems achieve higher energy efficiency and generate less heat, which allows for lighter heat sinks. This development aims to address the increasing weight of electric and hybrid vehicles caused by heavy battery components. Starting in 2027, Porsche models are expected to be equipped with these high-end audio systems.
