Porsche unveils 975 RSE Gen4 Formula E racing car

Porsche has revealed details regarding its Gen4 Formula E racing car, the 975 RSE, which is scheduled for competition in the 2026/2027 season. Named in honor of Porsche Motorsport’s 75th anniversary, the vehicle features a system maximum output of 816 ps (600 kW) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.8 seconds.

The 975 RSE incorporates significant aerodynamic advancements, providing up to 150% more downforce than its predecessor. To manage high performance, the car utilizes direct oil cooling technology for its motors—a method also utilized in production models like the Cayenne Turbo Electric.

Efficiency remains a core focus, with the powertrain achieving over 97% energy efficiency. The vehicle is designed to complete races of over 45 minutes using a 51.25 kWh battery, relying heavily on a powerful regeneration system that can recover up to 700 kW of power. Porsche has developed over 1.5 million lines of control software in-house to optimize performance and rapid response during racing.
