Porsche unveils Mission S concept and mid-engine supercar platform
Porsche has unveiled the Mission S concept in New York, signaling a strategic shift toward a permanent mid-engine supercar platform. Unlike previous limited-run hypercars, this new architecture is intended to sit permanently alongside the 911 in the company's lineup as part of the ‘Sportwagenschmiede ’35’ strategic realignment.
The Mission S design incorporates historical elements from the 911, 959, 917, and 911 GT1, utilizing a ‘floating volumes’ aesthetic. While specific performance specifications for the Mission S have not been released, the concept serves as a stylistic blueprint for the upcoming mid-engine series.
In a separate development, Porsche introduced the 2025 911 Carrera GTS hybrid. This model features an electrified powertrain including an electric turbocharger derived from Formula 1 technology and a 54-horsepower electric motor integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, producing a total of 541 horsepower.
