Porsha Williams undergoes emergency hysterectomy after 21 fibroids found

Porsha Williams, star of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’, has revealed that she underwent an emergency partial hysterectomy after doctors discovered 21 uterine fibroids. During the procedure, medical staff found one growth approximately the size of a cantaloupe.

Williams, 45, shared her experience in an essay for Glamour and during an interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King. She noted that she had previously struggled with fibroids, which contributed to a miscarriage in her 30s. Although she had undergone a uterine fibroid embolization in the past, the growths returned. She initially attributed symptoms such as migraines, fatigue, and heavy periods to perimenopause.

The medical emergency was discovered while Williams was at a fertility clinic accompanying a friend. Following an MRI, specialists determined that a hysterectomy was necessary, though her ovaries were preserved. Williams is using her story to encourage women to advocate for their own health and avoid self-diagnosing medical symptoms.
