Port Adelaide Coach Josh Carr Criticises Collingwood Over Zak Butters Comments
Port Adelaide head coach Josh Carr condemned remarks made by Victorian clubs about the future of his midfielder Zak Butters, describing the comments as "arrogant" and "disrespectful." Carr singled out Collingwood chief executive Craig Kelly, who said Butters was "coming back to Victoria" and hoped he would join Collingwood, and also rebuked Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge for similar speculation.
Carr said the statements were disrespectful to both the competition and to Butters, who is out of contract at the end of the season and being pursued by several clubs, including Collingwood, the Bulldogs, Geelong and Richmond. Butters has indicated he will decide his next move only after the season concludes, despite currently being sidelined by an ankle injury sustained on July 11.
