Elections and candidate debates underway in Canada and Australia

Various municipal and provincial elections are underway across Canada and Australia, marked by candidate debates and community engagement events.

In British Columbia, the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and the University of the Fraser Valley have scheduled debates for provincial candidates representing three ridings, including Abbotsford-Mission. These forums aim to address economic challenges and post-secondary funding. Additionally, candidates in Port Alberni recently participated in a question period hosted by high school students, while Callander residents are preparing to meet council candidates at a community centre event.

In other regions, Yellowknife candidates are addressing urban development and housing, and Williams Lake candidates are discussing mental health and street disorder. In Australia, the Central Coast mayoral race features incumbent Cheryl Fuller facing challenger Glynn Williams, with voter sentiment regarding council rate increases expected to play a significant role in the outcome.
