Port authorities highlight strategic growth and maritime security protocols
At the International Port Fair in Mar del Plata, Chubut officials presented the strategic potential of the Comodoro Rivadavia Port. Port administrator Digna Hernando highlighted the facility's geographic location, operational capacity, and its role in the bi-oceanic corridor. The presentation focused on upcoming projects involving clean energy, waste management, and infrastructure improvements to meet increasing service demands. The initiative also aligns with the FAO’s ‘Blue Ports’ program to promote sustainable maritime practices.
In a separate maritime security development, Puerto Bahía hosted officials from the United States Coast Guard and Colombia’s Dirección General Marítima (Dimar). The meeting focused on reviewing the Maritime Protection Management System and strengthening protocols under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. The collaboration aims to align port operations with international security standards and improve coordination for maritime protection.
