Port Authority of Almería coordinates logistics and urban integration projects

The Port Authority of Almería (APA) is conducting institutional and technical evaluations to improve port operations and urban integration. Rosario Soto, president of the APA, met with Gerardo Landaluce, president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, to discuss the 2026 Strait Crossing Operation (OPE) and the implementation of the European Entry/Exit System (EES).

During the visit, Almería officials studied passenger services in Algeciras to enhance their own operations, which connect to Melilla, Morocco, and Algeria. The meeting also covered Algeciras's container terminal efficiency and major development projects.

Separately, the APA held a technical visit for bidders regarding a €24.3 million project aimed at integrating the port with the city of Almería. The project involves urbanizing four hectares of port land, improving the Levante Dock, and redeveloping the Almadrabillas area and the seafront to better connect the port with the urban environment.
