Port Authority unveils new memorial at World Trade Center

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the World Trade Center Memorial Fund have unveiled the Port Authority Employee Memorial at Liberty Park. The monument honors agency employees killed during the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. It also recognizes staff who suffered or died from illnesses related to their roles in rescue and recovery efforts.

The memorial features an eight-foot-tall stainless steel model of the Twin Towers set upon a two-foot-tall granite base. An American flag is featured on the front, and the names of the 84 employees killed on September 11 are inscribed on the base. A ring of rose granite commemorates those lost in the 1993 bombing. The design draws inspiration from a previous memorial that was destroyed during the collapse of the towers in 2001.
