Port de Barcelona launches DELTA initiative for plastic recycling

The Port de Barcelona, through the BCN Port Innovation Foundation, has launched the DELTA initiative to promote a circular economy within the logistics sector. Part of the CIRCULARS program and supported by the Waste Agency of Catalonia, the project aims to transform plastic waste from over 40 port companies into raw materials for other industrial processes.

To facilitate this industrial symbiosis, the Foundation collaborated with consultants nèdity and Símbiosy to conduct a study characterizing plastic flows within the port ecosystem. The initiative seeks to connect waste generators with companies capable of reintegrating these materials into their production cycles, fostering a model of local circularity.
