Port developments face local scrutiny and compensation disputes

Port Adriano operator Ocibar has addressed local concerns regarding a proposed beach bar project near El Toro beach in Calvià. Isabel Teruel, the port's operations director, stated that the facility will be small, measuring approximately 30 square meters, and will be integrated into the port concession rather than occupying the sand itself. Teruel emphasized that the project will not include sunbeds and aims to provide necessary refreshments for visitors.

In a separate development, the Port Authority of Alicante has rejected a request from the Forty Group to expand the terrace of the Samoa restaurant. The group had sought a 248-square-meter expansion as compensation after the planned floating island restaurant project was canceled due to technical structural failures. While the port has denied the specific request for additional square footage, it is reportedly looking for other ways to improve the existing license's benefits for the company.
