Port Harcourt hosts university debate and legal moot court competitions

Port Harcourt is hosting two major academic competitions aimed at fostering intellectual and professional development among Nigerian students.

The 13th All Nigeria Universities Debate Championship has commenced at Rivers State University. Organized by the All Nigeria Universities Debating Council, the eight-day event brings together students from all six geopolitical zones. Under the theme ‘Reason Over Anarchy: Raising A Generation That Wins With Words,’ the competition seeks to promote reasoned discourse and critical thinking as alternatives to violence.

Simultaneously, sixteen law faculties from across the Niger Delta are participating in the 2026 Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Annual Moot Court and Mock Trial Competition. The NDDC aims to provide practical legal training and advocacy skills, requiring participants to address legal issues related to the socio-economic and environmental challenges of the Niger Delta region.
