Port infrastructure developments announced in Ensenada and Salaverry

Port authorities and business leaders in Mexico and Peru are advancing infrastructure projects to improve maritime efficiency.

In Ensenada, Mexico, the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial (CCEE) and ASIPONA Ensenada have agreed to form a working group to address the impact of port growth on local mobility and security. The discussion focused on establishing a ‘Port-City Agreement’ to manage heavy vehicle traffic and coordinate operations with municipal authorities. The Ensenada Port Master Development Plan includes several upcoming projects, such as a second cruise terminal, a specialized frozen goods terminal, and a commercial center with a ferry terminal.

In Peru, the National Port Authority (APN) has approved a maintenance dredging plan for the Salaverry Multipurpose Port Terminal. Operated by Salaverry Terminal Internacional (STI), the project involves a USD 4.5 million investment to deepen access channels and maneuvering areas. This initiative aims to improve navigation safety and operational competitiveness in the La Libertad region.
