Port Koźle investment nears breakthrough with PKP agreements
The development of the Port Koźle transshipment and storage complex is approaching a critical milestone. Jarosław Zemło, president of Kędzierzyn-Koźle Terminale (KKT), reported that negotiations with railway entities are nearing completion.
KKT is finalizing terms with two separate entities: PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PLK) and PKP SA. Agreements with PLK are largely settled, with KKT set to reconstruct approximately 500 meters of railway track and transfer it to the network manager. The primary remaining hurdle is a 25-year lease agreement for 11 hectares of land owned by PKP SA, which sits between the port and the active rail lines.
While legal terms for the lease have been reached, discussions regarding financial settlements and the reimbursement of infrastructure reconstruction costs are ongoing. Zemło expressed hope that both agreements could be signed by the end of 2024, though the timeline depends on the cooperation of the negotiating partners.
