Port of Aberdeen reports record cruise season with 54,000 guests

The Port of Aberdeen has reported a record-breaking cruise season in 2026, welcoming approximately 54,000 guests. This represents a 26% increase in passenger numbers compared to 2025.

During the season, the port recorded 71 cruise ship calls, including 13 maiden visits. The Norwegian Star, measuring 294 meters, was noted as the longest vessel to ever visit the port. Viking emerged as the busiest cruise operator, accounting for 21 calls. The port's activity saw a 24% increase in combined gross tonnage, reaching nearly 2.5 million.

Growth in the cruise sector is expected to continue, with bookings already extending to 2033. Local officials noted that the increase in tourism supports regional businesses, including hospitality and retail, across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Research by Oxford Economics previously indicated that cruise tourism generated £343 million for the Scottish economy in 2023.
