Port of Algeciras maintains stable traffic with 67.5 million tons through August

The Port of Algeciras has reported a total traffic volume of 67.5 million tons for the first eight months of 2026, remaining nearly stable with a 0.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.

Container movement saw a 0.8% increase, reaching 3,155,568 TEUs. Liquid bulk cargo contributed to a 4% growth in traffic during the most recent month recorded. Additionally, bunkering operations exceeded two million tons, marking a nearly 3% increase.

Reefer cargo imports and exports rose by 4%, with major origins including Costa Rica, Peru, and Egypt. Key export destinations include the United States, Dominican Republic, and Brazil. Road freight traffic across the Strait also showed positive trends, with 359,306 trucks utilizing the connections through August, a 0.9% increase.
