Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority approves €308 million investment plan
The Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority has approved its 2027-2029 Triennial Operational Plan, allocating approximately €308 million for infrastructure and modernization projects through 2028. The investment is divided between the Marche region, which will receive nearly €218 million, and the Abruzzo region, which is allocated nearly €91 million.
Key projects include dredging operations to accommodate larger vessels, terminal modernization, and digitalization of processes. In Ancona, specific interventions include dredging seabed areas near berths 19 to 26 to reach a depth of 14 meters, enhancing the port's competitiveness for ships with greater draft. Other planned works include shipyard area enhancements, environmental mitigation, and the reorganization of port spaces to separate commercial activities from tourism and cultural functions.
In San Benedetto del Tronto, the plan includes €30 million for the design of the first stage of a northern expansion, known as the ‘third arm’ of the port, alongside ongoing maintenance of seafloor depths to prevent silting.
