Port of Açu launches winter‑coat drive in Rio de Janeiro region

The AbrAçU volunteer program of the Port of Açu is running its annual “Campanha do Agasalho” to collect winter clothing for people in vulnerability in three municipalities of the Rio de Janeiro state: São João da Barra, Campos dos Goytacazes and the city of Rio de Janeiro. Collection points are set up at 17 locations, including partner companies such as Sicoob Fluminense, Unimed Campos, Estação Açu, T‑MULT, FERROPORT, NOV and others. Donations of coats, blankets, socks and other warm items can be dropped off until 19 June, after which the goods will be delivered to the Instituto Mulheres em Ação (São João da Barra), the Obra do Salvador and the Manoel Cartucho shelter (Campos dos Goytacazes) and the Exército da Salvação (Rio de Janeiro) on 25 June.

The campaign, now in its eighth edition, has mobilized more than 60 volunteer actions since 2017, benefitting roughly 30 000 people and over 120 social institutions.
