Port of Barcelona workers protest proposed wage cuts

Workers at the Port of Barcelona have organized a protest against proposed wage cuts. Approximately 250 demonstrators gathered near the Jaume I Tower and blocked the Plaça de les Drassanes and Ronda del Litoral to voice their opposition.

The dispute stems from a report by the Intervención General de la Administración del Estado, which identified a “technical adjustment accumulated over time” regarding salary deviations. The Port authority proposes addressing this discrepancy by redirecting potential future public sector salary increases to correct the imbalance.

Employees have rejected this proposal, arguing that alternative methods should be used to resolve the issue. They are also calling on the Ministry of Transport to unblock the collective bargaining agreement and the Treasury agreement.
