Port of Constanta installs truck weighing systems
The Constanta Port Administration is currently installing modern ‘weight in motion’ weighing systems at the port’s primary access gates. Work is currently concentrated at Gate 10, while systems have already been installed at Gates 7 and 10bis. Gates 7, 10, and 10bis serve as the main general access routes for goods, whereas Gate 14 is used for exiting the port.
The project involves both hardware installation and the development of a software platform to integrate sensors. Utilizing fiber optic technology, the new system can weigh vehicles of up to 200 tons (20 tons per axle) while they are moving at speeds between 5 and 90 km/h. Following installation, the equipment will undergo calibration by the manufacturer.
This implementation is expected to improve traffic management within the port. Centralized data will help predict congestion and allow for the redirection of trucks to prevent road blockages.
