Port of Corigliano inaugurates major new maritime infrastructure

The Port of Corigliano has inaugurated new maritime infrastructure at the Cantieri Nautici Feraco shipyard, including the largest slipway and launching basin in the Calabria and Basilicata regions. The facility features a 300-ton crane capable of servicing fishing, commercial, and leisure vessels for repairs and hull cleaning.

In addition to the slipway, the expansion introduces a fuel distribution station providing gasoline and diesel for local mariners, law enforcement, and transit vessels. The project also includes a new area for leisure boating, addressing high demand in a port where the existing 230 berths are currently fully occupied. Technical director Gianluca Feraco noted that local fishermen in Schiavonea had awaited these services for decades to avoid the costs and time associated with traveling to other ports.

The inauguration coincided with the ‘Mare in Movimento’ event organized by the Italian Motonautica Federation. Paolo Piacenza, president of the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea Port System Authority, stated that these developments are part of a strategic plan to diversify the port's services and increase its attractiveness for both commercial activities and leisure boating.
