Port of Gela receives 6.5 million euro funding for dredging

A funding allocation of 6.5 million euros has been designated for the dredging of the Porto Rifugio in Gela, Sicily. The project has received a favorable opinion and the documentation has been transmitted by the Western Sicilian Sea Port System Authority to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

Regional deputy Rosetta Cirrone Cipolla described the funding as a starting point rather than a final goal. She intends to present an Order of the Day to the Sicilian Regional Assembly to establish a verifiable timeline and ensure institutional responsibility for the complete redevelopment of the port facilities, which include Porto Isola.
