Montrose Port expands offshore wind capacity through new investments
The Port of Montrose is undergoing significant expansion to support Scotland’s offshore wind sector. Subsea Micropiles has announced a £5 million investment to establish a new manufacturing facility at the port. This facility will produce components for securing floating offshore wind turbines in deep waters for both domestic and international markets. Supported by £1.45 million from Scottish Enterprise, the project is expected to create approximately 80 new jobs.
Additionally, SSE has selected Montrose Port as the preferred operations and maintenance base for its planned 1.4 GW Berwick Bank B offshore wind farm. This operational hub, located at the port’s South Harbour, is expected to create 100 full-time jobs for technicians and engineers, with an additional 30 jobs during the construction and redevelopment phase. The Berwick Bank project is part of a larger 4.1 GW development that could eventually become one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms.
