Port of Motril hosts double cruise call with Norwegian Escape debut
The Port of Motril hosted a significant double cruise call on October 8, featuring the debut of the Norwegian Escape and the return of the Royal Clipper. The Norwegian Escape, operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, is one of the largest vessels to dock at the port, carrying 3,962 passengers and 1,639 crew members.
To facilitate tourism, 14 shuttle buses transported visitors from the docks to the city center, allowing them to explore local commerce, gastronomy, and historical sites. Some passengers also utilized the stop to visit surrounding areas such as Salobreña, Almuñécar, and the Alpujarra region, or to participate in organized adventure and nature activities.
During the event, the Port Authority of Motril held a traditional exchange of plaques and institutional gifts. José García Fuentes, president of the Port Authority, noted that the arrival of a vessel of this scale demonstrates the port's capacity to attract new companies and consolidate relationships with established cruise lines.
