Port of Natal projects R$ 1.42 billion in fruit exports

The Port of Natal has officially launched its 2026/2027 fruit export season. Codern projects that 250,000 tons of fruit will be exported, generating an estimated R$ 1.42 billion in revenue. This represents a 4.4% increase compared to the previous harvest, which saw R$ 1.36 billion in movement.

Currently, the port handles approximately 70% of the melon and watermelon destined for European and UK markets. The terminal is also expanding its reach by shipping fruit from the São Francisco River Valley.

In the first half of 2026, the port saw a 30% increase in total cargo movement compared to the same period in 2025, handling 222,843 tons. Despite this growth, fruit remains the dominant commodity, accounting for roughly 60% of all terminal movement. To support further expansion and diversification, the port is undergoing R$ 140 million in infrastructure works funded by the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), including channel dredging to allow larger vessels to dock.
