Port of Portimão sets new passenger record

The Port of Portimão has achieved a historic milestone in cruise activity, surpassing its previous all-time passenger record. During a weekend in August, the port exceeded the 2011 record of 46,263 passengers, driven by the arrival of the Norwegian Dawn.

This growth is further highlighted by the inaugural call of the Explora III, an ultra-luxury vessel from the MSC Group's Explora Journeys brand. As of 2026, the port has recorded 48 cruise calls and a total of 48,669 passengers, marking a significant increase compared to the 23,996 passengers recorded in 2025. These results align with the 'Estratégia Portos 5+' objectives to strengthen passenger traffic in continental commercial ports.
