Port of Ravenna initiates digital transformation to become a Smart Port

The Port Authority of the North Central Adriatic Sea (AdSP) has launched a digital transformation initiative to convert the Port of Ravenna into a ‘Smart Port’. The program has successfully completed its first phase of professional training for staff and management, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and digital culture.

The strategy aims to integrate advanced technologies while ensuring ethical use and regulatory compliance. Key infrastructure investments include a Port Community System (PCS), a new Data Platform for real-time logistics analysis, and the implementation of a private 5G network to support automated applications.

To enhance security, the ‘MACSecurity’ project has strengthened monitoring through a Security Operation Center, aiming for compliance with the NIS2 Directive by October 2026. Additionally, the development of a ‘Digital Twin’ of the port will allow for complex scenario simulations, integrating physical infrastructure with digital platforms to boost competitiveness.
