Port of Rijeka expands with new 7.5 million euro depot in Škrljevo
Port of Rijeka is expanding its logistics capabilities with the opening of a new container depot in Škrljevo. The facility, valued at approximately 7.5 million euros, is designed for the loading, unloading, and reception of containers.
Denis Vukorepa, Director of the Port of Rijeka Authority, reported at the Moving Adria 2026 conference that container traffic in the port has increased by over 60 percent compared to the same period last year. Currently, 500,000 TEUs have been handled in the first eight months, with expectations to reach nearly 800,000 TEUs by the end of the year and one million TEUs the following year.
Future development plans include a new terminal on Krk and projects for the Praška coast and a multi-purpose terminal. While container traffic at the Brajdica terminal is expected to decrease by 20 percent this year, it is projected to recover next year as new shipping lines arrive.
