Port of Salerno suspends unauthorized entry fees for NCC services

The Port of Salerno has suspended a 15 euro entry fee previously charged to chauffeured car services (NCC) attempting to access the maritime station area. The fee was reportedly introduced without regulatory basis or formal authorization from the Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority.

Following a complaint filed in late May by the association representing NCC operators, an internal investigation by the Port Authority confirmed that no existing regulations or management agreements mandate such additional payments. This is particularly notable as NCC operators already pay between 400 and 700 euros to operate within the port area.

The suspension follows concerns regarding the legitimacy of the collection, especially given the high volume of cruise passengers who frequently utilize these transport services. While the fee is no longer being collected, questions remain regarding whether a formal investigation will be launched to determine the legal basis for previous collections and if the funds will be refunded to the operators.
