Port of Vigo plans coastal walkway and noise reduction in Teis
The Port Authority of Vigo (APV) has presented urban improvement plans to the Teis Neighborhood Association to enhance the maritime front and address local environmental concerns.
A central component of the project is the humanization of Camiño Cacharela, which aims to create a safe, differentiated pedestrian itinerary. This development will include sea protection elements, efficient lighting technology, and landscape recovery for nearby green zones. The goal is to establish a continuous coastal walkway connecting Arealonga and Mende beaches, strengthening the pedestrian corridor between Chapela and A Guía.
Additionally, the Port Authority is evaluating the possibility of reclaiming space near A Lagoa for public use, following previous urban recoveries in Arealonga and Bouzas. To address resident concerns regarding noise, officials shared findings from a recent noise propagation study, which identified industrial activity as a dominant noise source in the Teis neighborhood.
