Port Samaná cruise terminal set to open November 24

The Port Samaná cruise terminal in Arroyo Barril is scheduled to begin operations on November 24. Developed through a public-private partnership between the Dominican government and Grupo ITM, the project aims to transform the economy of the Samaná province.

Alejandro Campos, director of the Port Authority, reported that visitor projections have increased, with expectations of 230,000 visitors in 2027 and 540,000 in 2028. The terminal is projected to reach one million annual visitors by 2030. Government officials, including ministers José Ignacio Paliza and Eduardo Estrella, recently inspected the site to evaluate infrastructure and connectivity plans intended to support local communities such as Las Terrenas and Sánchez.

Mauricio Hamui, president of Grupo ITM, confirmed that construction is in its final stages. The project is expected to drive investment in hospitality, gastronomy, and transport, while creating numerous direct and indirect jobs for the region.
