Energy technology updates: SMA inverters and portable power stations

Recent developments in portable and residential energy storage highlight various solutions for solar integration and mobile power.

SMA has introduced the Sunny Boy 2.0 SB2.0-1VL-40, a single-phase string inverter designed for small to medium-sized photovoltaic systems. It offers a 2,000 W AC output and a maximum DC input of 4,000 W, featuring an IP65 rating for outdoor use and a maximum efficiency of 97.20%.

In the mobile power sector, the Goal Zero Yeti 500X provides 505 Wh of capacity using lithium-ion NMC chemistry. The unit includes a 230V AC inverter with 300 W continuous power and 600 W peak power, alongside various USB and DC ports. It is distributed in Germany by GROFA Action Sports GmbH.

Testing of portable power stations has identified the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus as a top performer. The device offers approximately 825 Wh of usable capacity from a 1,024 Wh total and is noted for its rapid charging capabilities, reaching full charge via a wall outlet in 51 minutes. It supports solar input up to 1,000 W and provides a continuous output of 1,800 W across four outlets.
