Portal: Alive & Kicking remake released by Rhubarb & Rhubarb

The development team Rhubarb & Rhubarb has released Portal: Alive & Kicking, a complete remake of the original Portal game. Built using the Portal 2 engine, the project aims to modernize the visual effects, lighting, and atmosphere to align with the aesthetic of its sequel.

While the narrative continues to follow the characters Chell and GLaDOS, the developers have integrated elements from Portal 2 into the storytelling to create a more cohesive experience between the two titles. Gameplay improvements include enhanced puzzle-solving guidance, redesigned visual elements, and increased environmental detail.

A notable feature is the new dynamic soundtrack, which combines the desolate, eerie atmosphere of the first game with the reactive music system found in Portal 2. This system adjusts the audio based on changing in-game conditions to increase immersion.

Portal: Alive & Kicking is not a standalone free mod; players must own a copy of Portal 2 to run it. Minimum PC requirements include a 3 GHz P4 or 2 GHz Dual Core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and graphics hardware such as an NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or Intel HD Graphics 2000.
