Portalegre district hosts multiple cultural festivals in July 2026

In early July 2026 the municipality of Portalegre staged a series of cultural events across its parishes. In Alegrete, the "Projeto Régio" under the "Cultura nas Freguesias" programme performed on the Largo da Praça, presenting musical tributes to poet José Régio with local musicians, the group Os Castanhos and other artists as part of the town’s artisan and gastronomy fair. The project is co‑financed by the Alentejo 2030 programme.

Meanwhile, in the neighbouring town of Avis, the municipal "Feira Franca" ran from Friday to Sunday, featuring performances by Richie Campbell, HMB, Badoxa, Os Quatro e Meia and Luís Trigacheiro, alongside a DJ set, a sensory botanical walk, local gastronomy stalls and traditional craft displays.
