Portalegre launches music laboratories for local students

The Municipality of Portalegre, in partnership with local school clusters, the Escola de Artes do Norte Alentejano, and Banda Euterpe, has introduced the Music Laboratories (LAM) initiative. Aimed at students in the 1st and 2nd cycles of basic education, the program is part of the municipality's School Success Promotion Program.

The initiative seeks to foster creativity and talent through after-school learning environments. Students can explore various instruments, including violin, viola, cello, brass, woodwinds, and percussion. Sessions will be held at the Escola de Artes do Norte Alentejano and Banda Euterpe.

Participation in the laboratories is free of charge, though prior registration is required by October 23. This program complements the broader role of philharmonic bands in the Alto Alentejo region, which serve as vital community spaces for musical education and social integration in areas where specialized teaching may be limited.
