Portanova shopping center opens new exit to ease traffic

The Portanova shopping center in Osijek has opened a new exit route from its parking lot to Svilajska Street. This new path allows drivers to head directly toward Strossmayerova Street, bypassing the existing roundabout that frequently experiences congestion.

The traffic buildup in the area is caused by the convergence of vehicles from the bypass, the economic zone via St. Leopold Bogdan Mandić Street, and the Retfala direction. The new road is designed exclusively for exiting the shopping center; it cannot be used to enter the parking lot.

To assist visitors, Portanova has released a map marking the new route. The measure aims to alleviate delays during peak hours, weekends, and high-volume shopping periods. This follows previous traffic adjustments made in November 2023, when a temporary roundabout was installed at the intersection of Svilajska Street and the southern bypass to improve flow.
